Scheidegger & Spiess | Charlotte Perriand: Complete Works | Volume 1: 1903–1940
Volume 1 of the most comprehensive, authoritative monograph to date on this key figure in 20th-century design history.
The architect and designer Charlotte Perriand (1903–1999) is a key figure in 20th-century design history. As one of the first women in the male-dominated field of architecture, she designed prefabricated houses as well as the furnishings of student apartments and furniture. She developed her furniture specifically for particular locations and had it produced in small series. Many of these pieces have become design classics and sought-after collector`s items.
Volume 1 of this four-part authoritative monograph on Charlotte Perriand illustrates her childhood, youth, and education, as well as her early work up to 1940. This period includes, among other things, her fruitful collaboration with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret from 1927 to 1937, during which, among other things, the famous LC4 chaise longue and the LC2 armchair were created.
