Scheidegger & Spiess | Charlotte Perriand: Complete Works | Volume 2: 1940–1955

Volume 2 of the most comprehensive, authoritative monograph to date on this key figure in 20th-century design history.

The architect and designer Charlotte Perriand (1903–1999) is a key figure in 20th-century design history. As one of the first women in the male-dominated field of architecture, she designed prefabricated houses as well as the furnishings of student apartments and furniture. She developed her furniture specifically for particular locations and had it produced in small series. Many of these pieces have become design classics and sought-after collector`s items.

Volume 2 of this four-part authoritative monograph on Charlotte Perriand is dedicated to the years 1940–1955. This period encompasses her extended stays in Japan (1940–1942) and Indochina (1942–1946). The book focuses on Perriand`s collaboration with Jean Prouvé from 1952 to 1955, which provided her with the opportunity to engage intensively with the mass production of furniture.
