The E60 stool by Artek is a timeless classic that can be easily integrated into any interior as a stool or side table.
The four-legged E60 stool was designed by Aalvar Aalto and, like its three-legged counterpart (Stool 60), is an icon of furniture design. Aalto`s stackable stools were first introduced in 1933 and represented a revolution because they were not made of traditional steel but of bent, solid birch veneer, a material still produced by Artek today.
The familiar L-shape, found in almost every Alvar Aalto object, is also visible here. At the time, the bending technique used was impressive; just as today, a straight piece of solid birch wood is sawn open along the grain to form a fan. Small pieces of plywood were then glued together to enable the bending process by heating the wood, which also made the wood stable after the process.
The timeless E60 stool by Artek is made of birch wood and comes in various finishes.
