A Swiss classic: The EA-616 sofa bed

Where people sit during the day and occasionally sleep overnight, there`s no need for a second room, just the right furniture. In 1957, Ernst Ambühler, a student of Willy Guhl, designed the EA-616 sofa bed. A design with clean lines, in the tradition of classical modernism.

Folding down the backrest transforms the patented mechanism made of steel tubes into a 114 x 200 cm sleeping surface with a single movement. No instructions are needed.

In the living room as well as in the holiday apartment, this Swiss design classic serves two purposes: with the backrest upright, it`s a simple sofa; with it folded down, a daybed. It has been reissued with removable covers in various fabrics and colors, and a base made of chrome-plated or powder-coated tubular steel.
