Klaus Vogt Squadra wardrobe

Klaus Vogt

The Squadra wardrobe was adapted to meet the modern requirements of a wardrobe in collaboration with Klaus Vogt. Vogt designed this rare design classic, also known colloquially as a "fretwork wardrobe," back in 1964. He made the first ones himself for his own young household.

In the context of the "anti-design movement," Vogt nailed standardized plywood sheets together to form a stable structure and then sawed out the openings. This manufacturing method allowed for a variety of free-form shapes for the openings in the drawer and cabinet fronts. At the time, he chose piano hinges, which precisely followed the saw cuts.

The Squadra wardrobe variant with a right-hand handle can be easily rotated 180 degrees thanks to its symmetrical design. This allows the door to be opened from the other side as well. Inside, the wardrobe is equipped with removable shelves. Unlike the mass-produced vintage models, this reissue is made from plywood in the original, more delicate style.
