Franz Romeo is particularly interested in flexible construction with a mobile character. He places great value on the quality of the details and the consistent implementation of the design concept. He studied architecture at the Technikum Winterthur and at the ETH Zurich. He completed his education with studies at the Institute of Architecture and Urban Studies in New York. In 1982 he presented his first furniture prototypes. He sees furniture design as "micro-architecture" in which he values freedom that is only limited by anatomical conditions.
