George Nelson
George Nelson was one of the most influential American designers during the second half of the 20th century. As an architect, publicist, lecturer, curator and passionate photographer, he dealt with the problems of design in relation to society and culture in practical and theoretical terms.
Classics of modern furniture and interior design were created in his office: the Coconut Chair (1956), the Marshmallow Sofa (1956), the Ball Clock (1947) and the Bubble Lamps (from 1952).
“ Design is a response to social change .” - George Nelson
