His exceptional talent and two succinct convictions, to which he remained true throughout his life, made Kurt Thut a grand seigneur of Swiss furniture design: a piece of furniture needs to have a clear justification. And: a design is only good if it is simple and easy.

After completing his apprenticeship as a carpenter and studying at the Zurich School of Applied Arts, he joined his father's carpentry business and turned it into a breeding ground for outstanding Swiss design. In his role as designer, developer, constructor and producer, he created furniture that impresses with its particularly timeless and distinctive stringency.
