Artek was founded in Helsinki in 1935 by the young, idealistic designers Aino and Alvar Aalto, Maire Gullichsen, and Nils-Gustav Hahl and is today one of the addresses that have had a lasting impact on Scandinavian design. The name says it all: the synthesis of art and technology. The furniture, lighting, and accessories, designed by renowned Finnish and international designers, are characterized by clarity, functionality, and poetic simplicity.
