S 40 garden chair by Thonet | Exhibition piece

The S 40 cantilever garden chair by Thonet was already featured in the Thonet catalogue in 1935. The garden chair was designed by the Dutch architect and designer Mart Stam, who created numerous chairs for Thonet in his time.

Today`s S 40 outdoor chair is made of solid Iroko wood (FSC® seal) from Africa, which is characterized by its high density and excellent weather resistance. In addition, the wooden slats of the backrest and seat are oiled, making them ideal for outdoor use. The curved frame, on the other hand, is made of weatherproof stainless steel and provides an elegant contrast to the warm wood.
