Book 100 Years of Swiss Design

100 Years of Swiss Design offers a new perspective on Switzerland as a design country in the field of furniture and product design. The book presents the most important designs in design history in chronological order: from the regionally rooted beginnings around 1900 to the globally networked present. 30 contributions by recognized experts illustrate the themes typical of the time in text and images. In addition to design processes, manufacturing techniques, sales and reception, the changing role of designers as mediators between form and function, entrepreneurs, social workers or brand architects is also examined. With 100 key works from the design collection of the Zurich Museum of Design, the world's largest collection of Swiss design, the reference work presents and discusses for the first time a comprehensive show of Swiss design achievements between anonymity and author cult.

With contributions by the editors and by Claude Enderle, Meret Ernst, Fredi Fischli, Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht, Sebastian Hackenschmidt, Christof Kübler, Peter Lepel, Claude Lichtenstein, Stanislaus von Moos, Anne-Claire Schumacher, Christina Sonderegger, Klaus Spechtenhauser and Sophie Wirth Brentini.
