Klio 3-350a chair from horgenglarus | with armrests

klio from horgenglarus appears contemporary and archetypal at the same time. The sophisticated geometry of the heavy wooden chair is made possible by the symbiosis of traditional craftsmanship and the latest manufacturing technology.

The back, which flows seamlessly into the armrests, is bent from a 13.8 kg piece of steamed wood - either beech or oak - on a machine that is over 100 years old. After three weeks in the drying chamber, the backrest is milled into shape using the latest CNC technology and then finely sanded by hand. The sophisticated curved backrest contrasts with the body with its precise edges. With Horgenglarus' own solid construction and the ergonomically shaped seat, the result is a very comfortable armchair.

The characterful klio brings a touch of poetry into the clear world of horgenglarus. It connects the formally divided collection. Alongside round, organic shapes there are angular, straight-lined designs. klio is a synthesis of both worlds. klio is available as a chair with short and as an armchair with long armrests.

klio was first presented at the Swiss Designers' Saturday in November 2014. The poetic-mystical installation by Studio Hannes Wettstein was awarded the 'Designers' Saturday Silver Award 2014'.
