Moser 1-256 chair from horgenglarus | seat Jonc wickerwork

Werner Max Moser / 1896

Stylish, almost delicate and yet robust: the Moser from Horgenglarus is the epitome of the Swiss chair. Many Swiss people consider the simple design classic to be the 'chair of chairs': the model 1-250, or as it quickly became known among architects and in common parlance, the 'Moser chair', was in the spotlight from the start and became the most well-known piece of furniture from Horgenglarus.

The architect Werner Max Moser first showed his wooden chair in 1931 in a version with a wide backrest at the Neubühl home exhibition, which he helped to organize. The response was great even after the war. The Moser chair is very versatile and you can sit on it for a long time. The quality of the weave is superior: the robust Jonc weave is pulled into the chair frame by hand and knotted there, so it has significantly more stability than a machine weave that is pressed into a groove. A continuity of the tried and tested, as modern today as it was then.
