The Shiva vase, famous for its sexy and phallic shape, was designed by Ettore Sottsass in 1973 and has been produced by BD Barcelona ever since. The collaboration between the Italian designer and the Catalan manufacturer began in the early 1970s, after Sottsass made numerous trips to Barcelona. It was a love story with a local girl that inspired Sottsass to design the Shiva Vase, as the founders of BD Barcelona amusingly reveal.
