Book Marcel Breuer: Aluminium

Werkentwurf

The Alliance Aluminium Competition 1933

In 1933, Marcel Breuer designed the well-known furniture made of aluminum and flat steel for the Embru works in Rüti. Breuer took part in the aluminum industry competition in Paris in November 1933 with these models and won first prize. Le Corbusier and Walter Gropius were also on the international jury at the time.

A book has now been published on this topic. Peter Lepel describes the competition with a detailed overview of the furniture by Breuer and the other participants and also describes Marcel Breuer's efforts to find licensees in Europe and the USA.

Many previously unpublished photos make the work a true treasure trove for collectors and friends of furniture from the 1930s.
