Duotone carpet by Kvadrat

The attraction of the Kvadrat Duotone carpet lies in its simplicity. Each carpet is made of just two colours: one for the warp and one for the weft. It is the resulting colour mix that gives each carpet its own character.

"The completely simple, flat-woven Panama weave is the archetypal pattern in the art of weaving," says Hella Jongerius, the Danish designer of the Kvadrat Duotone carpet. In this respect, the design can be traced back to Hallingdal, a legendary upholstery fabric from Kvadrat's archives that also has a Panama weave and is known for its wide two-tone color palette. The different yarn thicknesses and contrasting colors give the carpet an attractive irregularity.

Duotone brings colour to life in a room but never dominates as the blend of yarns softens the colour intensity. It is handwoven by skilled weavers in India from New Zealand wool.
