Stack 1-680 chair from horgenglarus
Werkentwurf
stapel by horgenglarus, a design from 1949, anticipated the design world of the 1950s, with its new, free attitude to life. With its characteristic kidney shape, stapel stands in contrast to the traditional Swiss style that was popular in Switzerland at the time. The name of the robust chair says it all, as the solid wooden chair is easy to stack. Its production is particularly complex, as the back legs are turned in different diameters before being bent. Both front and back legs are also used in Max Bill's cross-frame chair, which came onto the market two years later. The horgenglarus chair was recently reissued: the seat frame was enlarged and the curved shape strengthened.
