The End Stool by Toiletpaper for Gufram

The Gufram stool The End is a bitter realization of Toiletpaper, the joint project of the artist Maurizio Cattelan and the photographer Pierpaolo Ferrari. The ironic tombstone is intended to explain the `end` of the Gufram brand and at the same time celebrate the golden new beginning.

We`re coming to the end. Gufram is retiring from the world of design, stopping making furniture. It`s been announced and set in stone - a tombstone, the brand`s newest piece of furniture.

For too long, no one could understand the mission of the Gufram brand. Everyone criticized the function of the design icons. There were too many envious people who complained about the incomprehensibility of the products, which ultimately look like gimmicks.

For Gufram, it was time to say stop. It was an unbearable stress for a brand like Gufram, which, with its pop icons, has always wanted to give every artist the opportunity to live out their imagination and create pieces that are a little more original, fresh, lively, ironic and fun than other furniture. It was therefore necessary to plan a definitive exit in order to be able to resurrect in the glow of fame with an equally controversial `piece of furniture`.

The design duo Toiletpaper achieved this brilliantly with their tombstone The End. It is made of polyurethane foam that is finished with Guflac, a special paint patented by Gufram, which creates the fake granite finish.

Gufram The End is limited to 1000 pieces, all of which are hand-made and therefore slightly different. The End is also the only funeral element that is part of international design and art collections and can also be used as a stool.
