The dining.tea.table became Jürg Bally`s most famous design. The official prototype from 1950 is now in the design collection of the Museum of Design in Zurich. In 1955 it received the "Good Form" award from the Swiss Werkbund.

The construction of this design classic is as simple as it is ingenious: the table top rests on three crossed legs that are connected by a movable pivot hinge. The self-locking winding mechanism was perfected for the 2014 re-edition with design engineer Daniel Hunziker in 400 hours of work. A lever under the table top rolls a steel band up or down in a drum using spring force. While the legs move together or apart in the rails under the table top, the table top rises and lowers from the dining table to the tea table in ten steps from 72 to 40 centimeters. Thanks to the precision of the details and the careful assembly, adjustment is effortless without having to clear the table top.
