Alfred Altherr Junior shaped modern Swiss architecture as a designer, architect, museum director, lecturer and exhibition designer as well as co-initiator of the “Die Gute Form” award and as managing director of the Swiss Werkbund SWB.
At a young age, Alfred Altherr Junior was able to create his first design for a tubular steel lounger at the Embru company in Rüti and gained relevant experience during his internship with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret in Paris. His best-known design is the Landi bench, which he designed together with Charles Hoch in 1939. His granddaughter Johanna Altherr is now having various designs from his estate produced as re-editions in Zurich.
