Artek Riihitie Plant Pot
Aino Aalto
The Riihitie planter by Artek was designed by Aino Aalto and first presented at the Artek booth at the 1937 Paris World`s Fair. Even then, the perfectly shaped planter attracted attention, but was never mass-produced. To mark Finland`s centennial, Artek is presenting the planter in both its original forms.
The organically shaped plant pots are handcrafted from ceramic. Artek`s new edition is suitable for indoor use and available in a variety of colors. Artek was inspired by the tilework of Aino Aalto, which can be found in their homes.
The Riihitie planters are equally suitable for flowers and plants and can be easily combined. Aino Aalto designed the pots for the terrace of their house on Riihitie Street in Helsinki, where Aalto lived with his family until their deaths. Today it is a museum, and the pots can still be admired on the terrace.
