Artek Cabinet 250 / Artek Cabinet 250 by Alvar Aalto
At the beginning of the year, as part of the company`s 90th anniversary, Artek released the 250 chest of drawers as part of the Moomins edition in a limited edition of 90 units, which sold out immediately. Now the "bar cabinet" is also available regularly at Artek.
The Cabinet 250 was designed in the 1930s. Alvar Aalto also used the L-leg technology he had developed for the Stool 60. The idea of using this technology for the cabinet frame came from his wife, Aino Aalto. The legs and the body are joined together, creating a more harmonious line.
The Finnish architect Alvar Aalto is considered a pioneer of plywood processing. Influenced by the German Bauhaus, he experimented with this material from 1927 onwards, creating numerous pieces of furniture that combined modern forms with natural materials.
