Studio 65
The iconic Capitello armchair was designed by Studio 65 in 1971 and is sold by the legendary Italian manufacturer Gufram. The designers Franco Audrito and Piero Gatti see their creations as a response to pure functionalism and also sought inspiration in Pop Art. The Barolo-based furniture manufacturer has been revolutionizing the understanding and appearance of seating furniture since the 1960s. It is therefore no wonder that even the Metropolitan Museum of Art lists the Capitello armchair.
Inspired by the design of the capital of an Ionic column, the Gufram armchair is made of foam and looks like a Greek archaeological find that has been sawn off at an angle. The volutes of the Capitello lounger therefore lean towards the floor and the hollow seat invites you to relax.
