Massolo by Piero Gilardi for Gufram
Piero Gilardi
Massolo by Gufram looks like a block of stone, but is made of plastic and is therefore much lighter and softer. The Massolo Stone was designed in 1974 by the Italian artist Piero Gilardi, a representative of Arte Povera. The design underlines the irony and love of the surreal that are characteristics of Gufram objects.
Each of the Massolo pieces, limited to 500 pieces, is unique, handcrafted from a block of polyurethane foam onto which 12 layers of Guflac in 8 different colors are applied by hand to obtain the desired shade and shine. The PORFIDO lettering on the surface - also handcrafted - reinforces the surrealism of the object.
Massolo is intended as a small table or as a seating object.
