Superonda Sofa by Poltronova
Archizoom Associati
The Superona Sofa or Superwave was the first sofa without a frame and was designed in 1967 by the Florentine radical design studio Archizoom Associati.
The Poltronova sofa consists of two waves made from a block of polyurethane cut in two with an S-shaped notch. The waves can be interlocked and stacked to create different configurations.
This lightweight modular structure allows for a range of different uses: Superonda can be used as a sofa, bed or chaise longue, depending on preference and space. Like many of the pieces designed by Archizoom Associati, the Poltronova sofa challenges bourgeois conventions and inspires creativity and imagination.
