Hans Bølling

In spring, they waddle proudly through Copenhagen: the duck mothers and their offspring. This was also the case in 1959, when traffic in the municipality of Frederiksberg - not far from the Danish capital - came to a standstill because a policeman gave way to a young family of ducks.

The extraordinary and meaningful event was documented in photos the next day in all of the country's major daily newspapers. The scene thus became etched into the collective Danish soul and has since become a symbol of the love and concern for nature in our neighboring country.

What does this have to do with Hans Bølling's wooden figures? The architect was also not unmoved by the modern world's standstill in the face of nature. And so he created a monument to the rescued duck family. He designed these ducklings, which carry the essence of the peaceful and harmonious Danish spring within them. And so their mild, wooden curves exude serenity and harmony wherever they waddle. Just like back then, in the spring of 1959...
