Superonda Stripes Sofa by Poltronova | Limited Edition

Archizoom Associati

The Superona Sofa or Superwave was the first sofa without a frame and was designed in 1967 by the Florentine radical design studio Archizoom Associati.

The Poltronova sofa consists of two waves made from a block of polyurethane cut in two with an S-shaped notch. The waves can be interlocked and stacked to create different configurations.

This lightweight modular structure allows for a range of different uses: Superonda can be used as a sofa, bed or chaise longue, depending on preference and space. Like many of the pieces designed by Archizoom Associati, the Poltronova sofa challenges bourgeois conventions and inspires creativity and imagination.

For the fiftieth anniversary of the Superonda sofa, Poltronova paid tribute to the iconic anti-design piece of furniture and called on all members of the Radical team to design a new, celebratory outfit for the super sofa. One version of this is the Superonda Stripes sofa with orange and green striped waves, which is available in a limited edition of only 50 pieces.
